The Town of Grove Hill has recently filed a lawsuit related to PFAS contamination. PFAS-often called "forever chemicals"-are man-made substances that do not easily break down in the environment. In 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency set new drinking water standards for certain PFAS chemicals, including PFOS and PFOA. While these new limits do not take effect until 2029, Grove Hill is acting now to prepare for the future.
The purpose of the lawsuit is to seek financial support from companies that manufactured or used PFAS, so they help cover the cost of treating and protecting Grove Hill's water supply. It is important to note that Grove Hill's drinking water currently meets all state and federal safety standards. This legal action reflects the Town's proactive commitment to protecting public health and ensuring safe, clean drinking water for residents now and in the years ahead.
